Pirate ship weights anchor in hospital ward

Ahoy, me young hearties, there be a new outdoor play area and pirate ship awaiting ye at Northwick Park Hospital.

The welcome addition to Jack’s Place children’s ward was largely thanks to big-hearted donations from a range of sponsors including several schools in Harrow, Northwick Park Social Club and Sainsbury’s Kenton.

Healthcare assistant Louise O’Halloran and play worker Gemma Warren were instrumental in raising awareness of the need for a play area which included a generous donation from the trust’s charity.

“The children love outdoor space and feel the garden will be a massive help for distraction while they are stay on Jack's Place."

Gemma said: “The children love outdoor space and feel the garden will be a massive help for distraction while they are stay on Jack's Place.

“It’s a covered, secure outdoor area so they can play out there in all weathers and get some fresh air.”

The garden area includes a pirate, ship, swings, a slide, space hopper bouncers and chalk boards for children to write on.
