About the service

Our Trauma and Orthopaedics team care for you if you have had a musculoskeletal injury, whether you need routine care (known as elective care), or emergency care.

Elective clinics

We hold elective (or routine) clinics at Central Middlesex, Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals. Each of our consultants is a specialist in a different part of your musculoskeletal system, such as hands and arms, shoulders, hips, knees, and feet.

Trauma clinics

We'll ask you to attend one of our trauma clinics if you've had some emergency treatment for trauma. These clinics are held in our fracture clinics at Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals, and run between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Most of the time you'll be seen by a consultant who specialises in your injury, but any of our consultants can see you if you need to be seen urgently.

Elective surgery

We perform our planned (known as elective) surgery at Central Middlesex Hospital, in the BeCAD Centre. Central Middlesex Hospital has state of the art laminar flow theatres, where our talented team of consultants perform pioneering robotic knee surgery and awake shoulder surgery, among other procedures. Once you have had your surgery, you will recover on Abbey Ward, which is a dedicated ward for elective surgery.

Trauma surgery

If you need emergency, or trauma, surgery, this will take place at Ealing or Northwick Park Hospitals. Once you have had your surgery, you will recover on Evelyn Ward at Northwick Park or on 7 South Ward at Ealing, where you will receive a daily ward round from our consultants. You will also receive care from expert nursing and rehabilitation teams. If you have had a hip fracture, your care will be coordinated by our Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Virtual fracture clinic

If you have a fracture, our consultants may review your case in one of our virtual fracture clinics. This means that you can start your treatment without having to wait to be seen by a consultant. We may suggest physiotherapy to help you with your movement, set up clinic appointments for further investigations, or discharge you to your GP with some advice for them and you to follow.
