Kangaroo Care Week

It’s Kangaroo Care Awareness Week which promotes the benefits of skin-to-skin contact between premature newborns and their parents.

It’s a decade since the World Health Organisation endorsed the simple intervention whose benefits include better bonding between the parents and baby, lower chances of hospital acquired infections, improved breastfeeding rates, and earlier hospital discharges.

Dads are also encouraged to get in on the act, especially following a caesarean birth while mum recovers from the anaesthetic.

Thank you to our neonatal team for promoting the awareness week.
