Hospital pool refurb makes a splash

Northwick Park’s newly refurbished hydro-therapy pool made a splash when it was ‘christened’ by Head of Nursing Tricia Mukherjee who took an impromptu dip.

The pool, which is primarily used by patients with arthritis, various musculoskeletal problems and those recovering from orthopaedic surgery, received a welcome makeover 34 years after it first opened.

Around 120 patients use the pool a day and Tricia can testify that the water is kept at a balmy 34 degrees.

The pool does offer a pay-as-you-go exercise class which allows patients to continue using the pool under supervision of a therapist for a small fee. Some die-hards are still attending after nine years.
