They may be generations apart but that didn’t stop the young and old having a good heart-to-heart at Dairy Meadow Primary School in Southall.
Year Six pupils were studying the circulatory system so what better guests than a panel of speakers from local charity Heartlink?
The Ealing based charity provides advice and support to people living with heart conditions, especially those undergoing or recovering from hospital treatment?
Bernard Diamant, Heartlink volunteer, said: “We had a lively Q&A session and were surprised just how much the pupils knew. It was an inspiring visit and it’s never too early to lay the foundations of a healthy lifestyle.”
Many of the children told the panel of family members who suffer from heart problems and were already aware of risks of lack of exercise, smoking and vaping.
North West London has one of the highest rates of heart disease in the UK with 32,000 people living with heart and circulatory diseases in Ealing.
