Trust celebrates menopause accreditation

The trust has been awarded Menopause Friendly Accreditation for its commitment to recognising and supporting menopause in the workplace.

It was second time lucky for the organisation which initially applied two years ago but has since adopted a more refined evidence-based approach which met with success.

The accreditation included meeting specific criteria around culture, training, policies, and practices, such as open conversations in ‘Let’s Talk Menopause’ sessions, visible leadership support, flexible working and other workplace adjustments.

Nearly 80% of the trust’s employees are women with more half that number aged 40-60 years-old with many in this age group experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause.

The trust was also shortlisted in four categories at the Menopause and Menstruation Friendly Employer Awards and won Menopause Friendly Employer of the Year (Public Sector) and Highly Commended for Best Peer-to-Peer Support for Menopause.

Dr Shriti Pattani, clinical director and consultant in occupational medicine at LNWH, said: “Menopause support isn’t just about symptoms. It’s about changing culture.

“These awards aren’t the finish line. They are our commitment to an NHS where every stage of life is supported, and every colleague can thrive. These achievements are the result of incredible teamwork.

"This includes our menopause taskforce, specialist clinicians, Occupational Health and Wellbeing team, staff experience and engagement, wellbeing champions, women’s network, and many more colleagues who have championed menopause and shared personal stories.”
