About our rheumatology service

Our rheumatology team assess, diagnose and treat you if you have one of a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders. These are conditions that affect the bones, joints and tissues in the body, such as muscles, tendons and ligaments.

We work closely with other health care professionals, including:

  • physiotherapists
  • pharmacists
  • podiatrists
  • hand therapists
  • radiologists
  • orthopaedic surgeons
  • specialists from other areas.

We hold daily clinics at Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals.

Our connective tissue disease clinics at Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals are recognised by NHS England as a specialist rheumatology service.

Conditions cared for by rheumatology

Our team provide care for diseases such as:

  • inflammatory arthritis:
    • rheumatoid arthritis
    • psoriatic arthritis
    • ankylosing spondylitis
  • osteoarthritis
  • gout
  • connective tissue diseases (such as systemic lupus erythematosus or lupus)
  • osteoporosis.

  • a medical day care unit, where we provide intravenous therapies for autoimmune and metabolic bone diseases

At Ealing Hospital, we also provide:

  • a day care service, where we provideintravenous biologic treatments
  • specialist podiatry and hand therapy services for you if you have inflammatory joint disease

Northwick Park Hospital

At Northwick Park Hospital, we also provide:

  • a rheumatology day care unit, where we provide biologic treatments as well as bisphosphonate immunoglobulin and cyclophosphamide infusions.
