Winter wonderland to raise money for local hospice

They shocked people into donating more than £400 to Meadow House Hospice at Halloween and promise further good tidings with a Christmas fundraiser.

No sooner had the shroud lifted over All Hallows Eve than Jason and Lisa Cole began dismantling the haunted house outside their Northolt home and replacing it with a Santa’s Grotto and elves workshop.

It is a busy time of year for the Cole family whose eight children all have their birthdays between November and January.

The Christmas switch-on was on December 1 and a steady stream of passers-by have been taking photos of their suburban winter wonderland.

The grotto is decorated with hundreds of lights and decorations and Jason adds to his growing collection by asking every birthday for either Halloween or Christmas props.

Jason added: “It’s a lot of work but we love doing it and the money goes to a good cause. The hospice was there for my mum and this is our way of saying thank you.”

The grotto and workshop is open to the public from 4.30-7pm on December 22-23 but please contact Jason and Lisa in advance at northoltsanta@gmail.com to make a booking.
