Volunteers Week 2021: Anne

Meet Anne Gorman, who has volunteered for three years as a “meet and greet” volunteer.

“During the most recent lockdown, I continued to volunteer but in different ways to the first lockdown. I obviously miss the hospital and hopefully, we'll all get back together one day soon.

I currently have three roles: helping in a small local Community Hub which is normally a cafe but is operating as a Foodbank (during lockdown) called One Forty, getting shopping/collecting prescriptions for people who are shielding, and helping a local pharmacy with their vaccination programme.

“Every day is different as we get a range of products each morning. Some days it’s yummy pastries and cakes, prepared meals from a top-notch London restaurant or bakery and the next day it could be loads of vegetables and sandwiches from a local supermarket.

The people who help out there are lovely and the clients are so grateful for the support we are offering the local community.”
