Trust celebrates record number of nominations at national awards

Three staff have been shortlisted in the 2025 Black Healthcare Awards celebrating the achievements of Black healthcare professionals in the NHS.

Sala Abdallah, an emergency surgeon from Ealing Hospital is hoping it is second time lucky after being nominated last year.

Sala is nominated in the Clinical Excellence Award for Consultants category.

She is joined by consultant eye surgeon Evie Mensah in the same category and Dr Rossby Awadzi who has been shortlisted as Junior Doctor in Training.

The awards ceremony, which received more than 900 nominations this year, will be held on July 12.

The trust hopes to go one better than last year when matron Rose Amankwaah won a Long Service Recognition Award after clocking up an impressive 49 years at Central Middlesex Hospital.
