Six North is good as gold
A hospital ward in Ealing is the first in the trust to win gold standard accreditation for its outstanding work.
Six North, a care of the elderly ward, made a song and a dance of it when Chief Nurse Lisa Knight presented them with an award for raising standards of patient care and safety.
Staff enjoyed a mass singalong in celebration of their achievement.
The four-tier accreditation was launched in 2023 with wards ranked white, bronze, silver, and gold on their performance in areas ranging from patient experience and safeguarding to sepsis, medication safety and falls prevention.
The assessments are carried out with no prior warning by a group of assessors including clinicians, non-executive directors, volunteers and external partners ensuring standards are constantly high. This includes quizzing patients and staff.
Lisa Knight, LNWH Chief Nurse, said: “The team got an extraordinary set of scores as part of the evaluation process. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The Accreditation programme brings together key quality measures of nursing and clinical care in one overarching framework.
Julie Labial, Clinical Nurse Manager, who accepted the award on behalf of the team, said: “We were rated silver when the accreditation process began in 2023 and have worked extremely hard to raise standards since then reflecting the trust’s Heart Values of Honesty, Equity, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.
"Six North stands as a distinguished example of resilience amid challenges and change, driven by a unified commitment to advancing the quality of patient care, enriching patient experiences, and fostering the professional growth and accomplishments of its staff."
