Praise for Northwick surgeon
Former health minister Lord Ara Darzi has praised the pioneering work of a Northwick Park surgeon.
Lord Ara Darzi wrote the foreword of Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration (LCBDE), a clinical practice book whose senior author is Alberto Martinez-Isla.
He describes the book as a ‘platform for continued innovation in biliary surgery and healthcare technology for the foreseeable future.’
LCBDE is a procedure that removes stones from the common bile duct. Mr Martinez-Isla has championed several new techniques as well as providing training to surgical colleagues.
The trust is at the forefront of its globally development including the use of lasers to ‘blast’ stones as well as developing the management pathway of patients with complicated gallstones.
