Nurses shortlisted for awards
Neonatal nurse Sister Cecilia Lam who has been shortlisted in the Nursing Times Workforce Awards in the Preceptor of the Year category.
Cecilia, who works at Northwick Park Hospital, was in the spotlight last year when TV presenters Ant and Dec picked her out of a live audience on Saturday Night Takeaway in recognition of her work.
Victoria Kinmonth-Jones is shortlisted in the Preceptee of the Year category and Tessy Chacko for Best Workforce Technology. Victoria gave up a career as an air hostess to work in the neonatal unit.
She originally came to Northwick Park Hospital as part of Project Wingman when flight crews grounded by the pandemic put their people skills to good use hosting pop-up hospitality areas in hospitals around the UK.
The decision to hang up her wings after 26 years bought Victoria back to nursing which she had originally considered as a career as a teenager.
“A lot of the skills I learnt in the industry were transferable,” says the nursing associate who has spent the past five years working with premature babies.”
