New look for neonatal unit

The Neonatal Unit at Northwick Park is currently undergoing a year-long refurbishment to provide a lighter and more spacious space that will benefit babies, parents and staff.

It's been a long time coming.

The last time the unit had a major refurbishment was nearly quarter-of-a-century ago in 2002 leaving plenty of room of improvement to meet the latest guidelines.

This includes repurposing existing rooms and corridors while the unit continues to function.

Krzysztof Zieba, Consultant Neonatal Paediatrician, said: It's a challenge because we have to make better use of the existing space, but careful planning is allowing us to complete each phase of the works with the minimum of disruption.”
