Lisa scoops British Journal of Nursing award

We’re proud to tell you that Lisa Younge, our recently appointed Consultant Nurse for Inflammatory Bowel Disease at St. Mark’s Hospital, has won the British Journal of Nursing national award for gastrointestinal / IBD nurse of the year.

Lisa won for setting up not one but two IBD services. She was the project manager for IBD nursing at Crohn’s and Colitis UK, and has multiple publications to her name, shaping IBD nursing not only here in the UK but across Europe. Recently she contributed to the national IBD standards.

In accepting her award, Lisa said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you. I feel quite overwhelmed in winning this award, so a huge thank you to anyone who nominated me.

“But a bigger thank you goes to the IBD community in general – the healthcare professionals, the charitable agencies who work together, support each other, educate each other.

“And most importantly, thank you to the people who live with these conditions, who inspire me every day.”
