Lilac Room is bloomin’ lovely

A new day room for the elderly at Ealing Hospital is offering patients a welcome change of environment.

LNWH Charity funded the transformation of the under-utilised space into the Lilac Room where patients from 5 North ward can now relax and take part in nurse and therapy supervised activities.

More than half of all ‘bed days’ in NHS hospitals are now attributed to elderly patients highlighting the importance of providing an alternative space where they can chat, play games and watch TV.

Karen Keogh, head of nursing for medicine and therapies said: “The room will be a huge benefit to our patients.

We didn’t have a day room on the ward previously so can now provide the best possible care. “I’d like to thank the charity and everyone who helped transform the room which patients will enjoy for years to come.
