Hospital car park opens

A new multi-storey car park has opened at Northwick Park Hospital providing 727 parking spaces.

It will be managed by APCOA Parking and incorporates Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology. In addition, 30 electric vehicle charging points are available with the capacity to add more in future.

An 800m² energy centre has been engineered into the footprint of the car park and will power the hospital and a number of surrounding facilities.

It is expected to save the hospital £1.9m a year along with 2,500 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Mark Trumper, director of estates & facilities for London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust said: “The new car park provides much needed additional parking for staff and is safer and conveniently close to the hospital.

“The energy centre will both generate income and support our sustainability targets to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

“The land sale has realised funds for future investment in our staff and patients from the previously poorly utilised assets and provided an opportunity for our housing partner to develop 1,600 housing units, many of which are for low income families in an area of acute housing shortage."
