Hip, knee and shoulder operations at LNWH

You may have seen in the news that a national shortage of a type of bone cement is affecting the number of hip, knee and shoulder operations that NHS organisations can carry out right now.

If you have hip, knee or shoulder surgery scheduled at LNWH, please come in for your operation as normal unless we contact you to reschedule.

This is because not all these operations need to use bone cement, while others can be carried out using a different product.

Where we do need to use the type of bone cement affected by the national shortage, we will prioritise urgent and emergency care.

This means that we may need to reschedule some operations over the next few weeks. We're very sorry that in some cases, this may need to happen at short notice.

If we do need to reschedule your operation, we will get in touch with you directly by phone so we can give you as much notice as possible. You're always welcome to call our team if you have any questions about your care.
