Hair today, gone tomorrow
A Harrow boy is shaving his head to raise money for the hospital unit that helped saved his life.
Aditya Chauhan will part with his shoulder-length locks to support the work of Northwick Park Hospital’s Neonatal Unit where he spent the first three weeks of his life after being born seven weeks premature.
The unit looks after several hundred premature babies a year.
Fundraising is nothing new for four-year-old Aditya who, together with his parents Jay and Kanchan completed a 64km charity walk as well as donating some of his new toys to an appeal for children being cared for at the hospital.
Mother Kanchan said: “We want Aditya to understand the importance of giving to those less fortunate and being kind to others. The neonatal team were Aditya's first parents and were there for us. We wanted to say thank you for their support.
“Aditya's excited and nervous about getting his head shaved for a good cause. It will be a shock when we see all that hair come off.”
The family hoped to raise £300 for the unit but have kept the appeal open after surpassing their original target within the first 24 hours of the campaign.
Aditya’s hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatments and other conditions.
