Calendar challenge for charity
A runner is hoping to complete a half marathon for every month of the year to raise funds for Meadow House Hospice in Ealing.
Derek Hope is running in memory of a close friend cared for by the hospice and has since completed four half marathons.
“I’ve gradually been getting faster,” said Derek who is slowly closing in on the magic two-hour barrier for the 13.1 mile course. “I’ve had my own challenges in the past and was fortunate that people reached out and helped me so now I am giving back.
"It means a lot to be able to do this for an amazing hospice that does so much to support patients and their families.”
Derek will return to the capital for his last two runs of the year in Ealing and the Royal Parks half marathons.
You can sponsor Derek here or can lace up your trainers and raise money for the hospice yourself at the Ealing Marathon.
