Who can make referrals into the service?
We accept referrals from general dental practitioners, and other health/social care professionals.
What services are provided and who is entitled to treatment?
The Community Dental Services provides dental care with or without inhalation sedation. We treat patients who might otherwise experience difficulty accessing dental care as a consequence of one of the following special circumstances:
We do not provide specialist treatment for the following:
- Gum disease
- Root canal treatment
- Difficult tooth removal
- Dentures, crowns and bridges.
How do I make an appointment?
If you have been referred into our service, then we will contact you by post to arrange your first appointment.
If you are already under our care then please contact the clinic by telephone on 020 8966 6346 to arrange an appointment.
If you reach voicemail, then please leave a clear message stating your name and telephone number and we will return your call as soon as we can.
Who will treat me?
All referrals are triaged and allocated to the appropriate dentist.
What if I need emergency dental care?
If you are currently under our care:
If you are not under our care and are in need of emergency dental care please contact the Dental Emergency number 020 3402 1312.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel an appointment, it is important that you notify us as soon as possible and at least one working day before your appointment.
If you miss more than one appointment without notifying us you will be discharged from the service. You will require a new referral to be seen again.
It is sometimes necessary for us to cancel an appointment and under these circumstances we will endeavour to notify you as soon as possible.
Your rights and responsibilities
As one of our patients, you have a right to receive treatment in a clean and safe environment where you are free from the threat of verbal or physical abuse or any kind of harassment.
If you need to cancel an appointment, it is important that you notify us as soon as possible and at least one working day before your appointment. If you fail to give us sufficient notice of a cancellation or fail to attend appointments, we reserve the right to refuse future treatment.

Our staff have a right to work in a clean and safe environment where they are free from the threat of verbal or physical abuse or any kind of harassment. Incidents of abuse or harassment will be taken very seriously and will be investigated in accordance with Trust policy.

Data protection
Any patient-identifiable information that we store about you will be stored securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act. You have a right to access any information which we store about you and we will not pass your information outside of the NHS, except where you have given us permission to.

If you are not exempt from charges, the following NHS charges apply:
