The Rheumatology service provides an outpatient service for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders. These are conditions that affect the bones, joints and tissues in the body such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. They include diseases such as inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis), osteoarthritis, gout, connective tissue diseases (such as systemic lupus erythematosus or ‘lupus)’ and osteoporosis.
The service works closely with other health care professionals including physiotherapists, pharmacists, podiatrists, hand therapists, radiologists, orthopaedic surgeons in addition to specialists from other areas.
Daily clinics are held at Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals. Our Connective Tissue Disease Clinics at Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals are a recognised specialist rheumatology service by NHS England.
A GP referral is required to be seen by one of our Rheumatology team. Referrals are made by the NHS
e-Referral Service (eRS).
