The Ophthalmology or eye service unit was originally opened in 1994 to provide comprehensive ophthalmic healthcare to the local people of North West London and is located in state of the art facilities at Central Middlesex Hospital.

The service has seven consultants with expertise covering all areas of ophthalmology (eye care). Our staff also include opthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses, optometrists, orthoptists, medical photographers, an ophthalmic technician, as well as clerical and managerial staff.

The service offers a full range of outpatient services covering all general and specialist aspects of ophthalmology. Some of these specialities include cataract, medical and surgical retinal disease, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology.

Minor operations and laser treatments are are also carried out on a regular basis within the department.

All treatments are undertaken in recently upgraded facilities at Central Middlesex Hospital.

The Central Eye Service is situated on the first floor of the ACAD Centre at Central Middlesex Hospital in a purpose-built modern extension.
