The Clinical Biochemistry department provides an analytical and advisory service at Central Middlesex, Ealing, Northwick Park and St Mark's Hospitals. 

Laboratory tests are used to aid in the prevention, diagnosis and management of disease for patients in primary, secondary and tertiary care.  

The department analyses in excess of six million tests per year. The large diagnostic repertoire uses a broad range of techniques for the routine analysis of blood, CSF, urine and faeces, including:

  • General biochemistry
  • Endocrinology
  • Therapeutic drug monitoring
  • Metabolic disorders.

In addition to tests performed by the department, specialist tests may be sent off-site for analysis.

A 24-hour emergency on-call service and consultant advice are available.

The clinical biochemistry service is provided in collaboration with The Doctors Laboratory Ltd.

 

Central Middlesex Hospital
Clinical biochemistry is located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital.

Northwick Park and St Mark’s Hospitals
Clinical biochemistry is located on Level 5C of the Pathology Block at Northwick Park.

Patients can also drop off specimens at Pathology Specimen Reception, located on Level 5C.
