The Department of Cardiology at Central Middlesex Hospital launched a new direct access clinic
The clinics at Central Middlesex Hospital will enable a cardiologist, supported by a multidisciplinary team to see patients on the day of referral. Investigations will be organised, usually on the same day with all results reviewed by a cardiologist who will then make recommendations for further management.
All existing clinics will be transferred to this service which will run from Monday to Friday between 9am and 1pm. This will replace current methods of referral and remove the need for referral forms or referral letters to be completed.
Patients will be able to book an appointment if they prefer.
Note: this service is only available for patients who present with stable symptoms. Patients with acute or unstable symptoms must be referred to A&E.
How to make a referral
Either: give the patients a copy of their clinical summary and ask them to bring it to the cardiology department between 9am and 1pm Monday – Friday.
Or: fax the clinic summary to 020 8963 7156 stating ‘Direct Access Cardiology Clinic.’ Include contact number(s) for the patient and they will be called within 24 hours.
Or: give the patient the information sheet and ask them to call our dedicated phone line 020 8963 7152 to arrange an appointment. Give the patient a copy of their clinical summary or fax it to 020 8963 7156.
