About our urology service

Our urology team care for you if you have one of a number of conditions relating to the kidneys, ureter, bladder, prostate and male reproductive organs.

We provide:

  • diagnostic and outpatient services, at Central Middlesex, Ealing, and Northwick Park Hospitals
  • short stay surgery, at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals
  • day surgery and complex surgery, at Northwick Park Hospital.

Northwick Park Hospital is a designated centre for urological cancers.

Cancer and minimally invasive surgery

If you have bladder, prostate or kidney cancer, benign kidney diseases, or other urological conditions, our consultants can provide you with a full range of minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. They are recognised nationally and internationally for providing training for keyhole (or laparoscopic) surgery.

We are lead centres for diagnosing and managing cancer diagnostics for people in Brent, Ealing and Harrow, and work closely with the Local Cancer Network MDT and The Royal Marsden MDT when we need to.

Stone disease (kidney stones)

If you have kidney stones, we can treat you as an outpatient. We can also offer minimally invasive ureteroscopic treatment, including:

  • LASER at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals
  • Shock Wave therapy, or ESWL, at Central Middlesex Hospital
  • Minimally invasive therapy for kidney stones, or PCNL

Female urology

We can help to diagnose both men and women who experience incontinence. Among other conditions, we treat overactive bladder, which is a common condition. We:

  • are one of the first centres in the UK to offer Botox treatment for bladder problems in the NHS
  • offer treatments for Stress Urinary Incontinence, including Injections, tape procedures for female incontinence
  • offer ‘Mesh Free’ incontinence procedures for female patients
  • work closely with our colleagues at St Mark's Hospital, which is internationally renowned, for complex conditions.

Urology services for children

If your child has a urology issue, we can diagnose them and perform day surgery for inguino-scrotal pathology at our Trust. If your child has a more complex condition, we will refer them to a local specialist centre.

Benign urology

We offer full, holistic care for benign conditions in both men and women.

  • renal cancer (cancer of the kidneys)
