Hospital safety measures remain in place
Infection control measures will remain in place at hospital sites for the foreseeable future.
While the government roadmap plans to remove measures like this from everyday life, it is vital that the public can be confident about accessing or visiting our healthcare system as well as protecting our staff, patients and visitors.
The number of patients being treated for Covid-19 in our hospitals remains low compared to the first and second waves but the number of reported cases in the community is growing.
As a result, everyone visiting our hospitals must continue to wear a facemask and observe hand hygiene by regularly washing their hands.
Visiting guidelines are unlikely to change for the foreseeable future and you can only visit a friend or family member in hospital by prior appointment. You will not be admitted without an appointment.
Visitors will be restricted to one nominated person, allowed a scheduled one hour slot and must record their name in the ward visitor logs.
They must observe social distancing, wear appropriate PPE and staff will ensure the number of visitors on a ward doesn’t exceed 20% of the ward’s total bed capacity.
On planned care pathway wards and red pathway wards, visiting will be limited to compassionate visiting only.
An additional safety measure is that all staff working in our hospitals will be required to take twice weekly Covid-19 tests at home even if they don’t have symptoms.
