Celebrating volunteers week

1 - 7 June is Volunteers Week and we're delighted to shout loudly about the fantastic volunteers who work in our Trust

The difference our 500 volunteers make to patients and staff every day is invaluable, and we'd like to say a huge thank you for giving up your time to help others.

Find out below what they do and why they do it and it might encourage you to get involved.

Meet Noshaba Khawar

Why did you become a volunteer?

I wanted to give back to the community. It was an opportunity for me to meet different types of people and help people from all walks of life.

What’s your average day like?

I support with the Friends and Family Test surveys in maternity. I also support the admin team on the ward, so my day is always busy.

What do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy meeting new people and supporting patients wherever possible. You learn something new every day.

How does volunteering help patients, visitors and staff?

When patients are stressed or having a difficult day, it makes me feel good to know that I am here to help and volunteers are making a difference.

How did you find out about volunteering?

Through a friend.
