New film featuring NHS staff showcases the variety of services on offer at local healthcare trust

Did you know that Northwick Park Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, Central Middlesex Hospital is home to a world-renowned centre of excellence for the treatment of sickle cell disease and Meadow House Hospice, based at Ealing Hospital, was London’s first NHS hospice?

These are just some of the many facts highlighted in a new film about London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, the Trust that runs Northwick Park, St Mark’s, Ealing and Central Middlesex hospitals, as well as community services across Harrow, Brent and Ealing.

Known as ‘We are London North West University Healthcare’, the film showcases some of the Trust’s leading services and features staff from across our three hospitals, as well as community sites and services, including Clayponds Hospital.

Staff from across the Trust are filmed saying a particular sentence on camera about their service. In one scene, dispensary manager, Jayshree Velani describes the innovative work undertaken at Ealing Hospital to ensure medicine labels can be read and understood by everyone, saying: “We are the country’s first hospital pharmacy to introduce bilingual labels, translating key medical information into a patient’s preferred language.”

All these sentences lead up to a final shot of more than 30 staff saying: “We are London North West University Healthcare.”

Jack Adlam, head of communications at the Trust, said: “As one of the largest healthcare trusts in the country, we provide a large range of hospital and community services to approximately one million people every year.

“While we are aware of the leading and highly specialist services on offer, there are a lot of people in the communities that we serve who don’t.

"They might not be aware for example that as well as providing hospital care, our community healthcare teams have more than 600,000 contacts each year with the local population, providing services such as school nursing, dental services and sexual health services.

“This short film highlights and showcases the work of our dedicated staff and shows our communities the variety and breadth of services on offer across North West London from their local healthcare trust.”

The film was shot throughout February and March this year by Firewood Pictures and was first shown to staff at the Trust’s Staff Excellence Awards.
