Putting patients at the HEART of everything we do

HEART launch, CMH

Staff across London North West Healthcare NHS Trust came together today (Wednesday 3 May) for the launch of the Trust’s new values.

Developed by more than 2,500 staff, as well as patients, our new HEART values, and associated behaviours, describe how staff interact with each other and our patients. They are:

  • Honesty: we are open and honest in everything we do

  • Equality: we value all people equally and treat them fairly, whilst recognising their individuality

  • Accountability: we will provide excellent care and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all patients

  • Respect: we treat everybody the way we would like to be treated

  • Teamwork: we work together to make improvements, delivering consistent high quality, safe care

Led by a member of the Board, launch events took place at Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex hospitals, as well as community sites in Harrow, Brent and Ealing. Staff gathered to hear how the values were developed and how they would be embedded into everything we do and say.

A new film, featuring our staff and patients, was also shown for the first time explaining the importance of our HEART values. You can see the film here.

Chief Executive Jacqueline Docherty DBE, said: “Our new HEART values come from a strong desire to provide the best experience possible for our staff and patients across our hospital and community settings.

“These values describe how we interact with each other and our patients and will underpin everything we do to achieve our vision of providing excellent clinical care in the right setting. They are the golden thread that brings consistency to ‘the way we do things’ at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.”
