The NHS and health partners are throwing open the doors to anyone living with, or has an interest in diabetes this World Diabetes Day. (Tuesday 14 November).
Join clinical staff who specialise in diabetes, meet other people living with diabetes and find out more about what support and help is available. The event is being held at Brent Civic Centre from 10am-3pm and everyone is welcome.
There will be a series of talks in the morning and stands and stalls throughout the day, the full agenda can be found here.
Every year World Diabetes Day is celebrated internationally to promote the issues most important in the world of diabetes. This year’s campaign is focussed on women and diabetes, improving the information and guidance available to help women living with the condition to self-manage their diabetes and also prevent type 2 diabetes.
A brand new website called ‘Know diabetes NW London’, will also be launched at the event providing information, videos, tools and tips to help our residents know diabetes, prevent diabetes, manage diabetes, change their health and live life to the full!
Dr Tony Willis, Clinical Director for Diabetes, North West London Collaboration of Clinical Commissioning Groups, said: “We are really excited to announce the launch of the new Know diabetes NW London website. Currently there are lots of resources and information out there, but they are not relevant to many of our local residents in NW London, in particular the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community. This is just the first phase of the support we’re putting in place for patients and we’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve been working on so far.”
This exciting new website will act as a hub of information and training courses on diabetes and provide a set of educational videos with health, exercise and diet tips for patients, the public and clinicians of all ages and ethnicities in NW London.
Come and find us for a chat, workshops, information, refreshments and more on 14 November, 10am to 3pm, Grand Hall, Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley, HA9 0FJ. Stay posted for more information!
This event is open to everyone! Clinicians, patients, carers, anyone living with diabetes or at high risk of type 2 diabetes, friends and family. Please register here to let us know you’re coming and to see the full agenda for the day.
