We are pleased to publish our new Clinical strategy for 2018 – 2023.
This strategy demonstrates our ambition for the future and provides a framework of how London North West University Healthcare will grow and build our reputation as well as improving our services and patient experience across our Trust.
In developing the clinical strategy we have drawn extensively on the views and experiences of our clinical staff and considered the wider context in which we find ourselves, including: national and local policies, the financial challenges for the NHS, changes in technology and local demographics.
Recognising our recent accreditation and membership of the Association of UK University Hospitals, the strategy emphasises our role to play in the sector in education and research.
As a Trust, we have some challenges that reflect our specific circumstances and history. Much of our estate, especially at Northwick Park, is very old and in urgent need of modernisation. We were formed from the merger of two trusts in 2013 and we still have more to do to streamline and simplify our processes and ways of working.
Our clinical strategy has been designed to meet the local and national needs by framing our forward priorities around three ‘key pillars’ that are essential to the future success of our organisation. These are:
- Emergency and ambulatory care
- End to end Integrated care, and
- Specialist services.
Alongside these pillars the clinical strategy sets out our ambitions to:
- improve outcomes and experiences for frail older people,
- to integrate cancer care and to
- play a greater role in North West London’s goals around prevention and wellbeing.
We have produced a poster to show how the clinical strategy is designed to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience, to achieve our vision of excellent clinical care in the right setting delivered through our values by putting patients at the HEART of everything we do.
Read our strategy on a page for an overview of our plans.
In the coming months we will be speaking to and working with patients, partners and the broader public to refine our priorities as we start to develop detailed implementation plans for the strategy.
