You can use our check-in kiosks or speak to someone on reception to let us know you’ve arrived.
Check your details are correct
It’s really important you keep your details up-to-date so we can contact you about your care.
Use our kiosks to make sure your contact details are up-to-date, or you may be asked by our reception team if your details are correct.
While you wait
Our outpatient areas can get really busy, with many different clinics during the day – so remember:
- we try our best to make sure our clinics run on time, but sometimes delays happen
- we will see you – and everyone else – in order of appointment time.
- if someone arrives after you and called before you, it’s likely they are being seen in a different clinic, or their appointment time is before yours.
Who you’ll see
You will see various healthcare professionals during your appointment, test, treatment, or stay, including:
- a consultant, or a member of their surgical or medical team
- nurses or midwives
- allied healthcare professionals (AHPs), including therapists, phlebotomists, or radiographers
- Medical, dental, or nursing students may be present during your visit - remember, you can always say no if you don’t want trainees observing your care.
You’ll also meet other people during your visit – including non-clinical staff like ward clerks, receptionists, cleaners, and porters.
We all wear identity badges – but if you're not sure you're talking to a member of staff, just ask to see their name badge.
Questions about your care or treatment
We want to make sure you understand your options, and exactly what’s going to happen, and when.
If you have any questions about your care or treatment, just ask your doctor, nurse, or health professional.
Usually, we won’t start treatment until you’ve given us your consent, unless it's an emergency or in your best interest.
Remember to follow the instructions of any medications you’re prescribed. It’s really important you finish the course, even if you’re beginning to feel better.
