The Brent paediatric physiotherapy service provides a child and family-focused therapy approach to children and young people in Brent, who have physical motor difficulties that may impact on their function or development.
Conditions include neurological, developmental delay, rheumatology, developmental co-ordination, abnormal gait, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal problems, rehabilitation following surgery or acquired head injury.
What can you expect from our service?
We work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team including paediatric occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, paediatricians, primary and secondary care, nursing teams, voluntary organisations, early years services, education and social care.
We provide assessment, individualised programmes, training and equipment if necessary. We promote inclusion in schools and provide advice on how children with physical needs can fully access the curriculum to their maximum potential.
Input can involve direct therapy on an individual basis, in groups, specialist clinics, stretching and strengthening exercise plans, postural care, positioning, manual handling, health promotion and advice to schools and social care. We also train parents, carers and school staff to carry out programmes to enable continued care in all aspects of a child’s daily life.
Core hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays), but there is flexibility outside these hours on request, including Saturday appointments for certain clinics.
