Nurses from Clayponds Hospital (recruitment image)

London North West Healthcare NHS Trust provides a full range of new and exciting nursing roles. As one on the largest integrated care organisations in the country our nursing roles are always developing and the opportunities are endless.

Opportunities for development

Newly qualified nurses

We are one of the few Trusts in London who offer a formally accredited preceptorship programme. All newly qualified nurses will be placed on the programme, will be mentored by a trained mentor and will receive 20 credits at Level 6 or Level 7 which can go towards your degree in nursing or even towards a masters qualification.

Specialist nurses

We offer a number of programmes for nurses who wish to develop their skills in one of the following specialisms:

  • ITU nurse programme
  • Stroke care programme
  • A&E trauma
  • Emergency care practitioner

These programmes are suitable both for nurses working within these areas of specialism who want to develop or consolidate their skills and for nurses who work in different areas of the Trust but would like to learn a new specialism. Many of our nurses who have undertaken one of these programmes have been successful in obtaining a position in one of these specialist areas and have gone on to become clinical nurse specialists for the Trust.

Degree pathways

There are a number of different routes which our nurses can take in order to develop their professional skills and careers by obtaining a degree in nursing.

Degree programmes can be tailored to your exact requirements and can be completed on a modular basis.

Masters programmes

Through our educational partners, University of West London and Bucks New University we support a large number of staff through their post-graduate studies, including our highly popular PgDMS in Management Studies (Health and Social Care).

Leadership and development

We offer a number of ways in which nurses can develop from practitioners into Leaders. Our highly successful Aspiring Ward Managers’ programme has provided a springboard for a number of nurses to advance into management. We run an annual leadership programme that has been co-developed with Bucks New University; a highly interactive programme including seminars, group work, exercises, personal coursework and reflections. We also offer a range of programmes and sessions, aimed at developing existing people management skills, that existing or aspiring managers can choose from.
