Trust appoints new chief executive

Chris Bown has been appointed as the interim Chief Executive of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH).

Last autumn, the current Chief Executive, Dame Jacqueline Docherty, announced she was retiring after more than 50 years of NHS service.

Chris will join the Trust on 6 April and his appointment is for a 12 month term.  He is a long standing Chief Executive with a wealth of experience across the NHS in both hospitals and community services.

Sir Amyas Morse, Trust Chairman said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that the Trust has appointed Chris Bown as the Interim Chief Executive to take over from Dame Jacqueline Docherty when she retires at the end of March.”

Chris has over 30 years of Board level experience in the NHS, managing large acute trusts. His skills will be invaluable in leading the Trust on the next chapter of its improvement journey.

Sir Amyas also thanked Dame Jacqueline Docherty for her years of dedicated service, saying:

“In her time as Chief Executive, Jacqueline has delivered real improvements across LNWH and has transformed the organisation. I would like to thank her on behalf of the LNWH Trust Board for her leadership, integrity and passion for delivering the best possible care to each and every patient and wish her well in her retirement.”

Commenting on his appointment, Chris said: “I’m looking forward to taking up the role and working with colleagues in supporting them to deliver the very best health services for the people of Brent, Ealing and Harrow.”

Arrangements for recruiting a permanent Chief Executive will take place later in the year.
